West Bend, Wi – Summer is just around the corner and the members of A1 Health and Fitness in West Bend, Wi, are chiming in on what they’ve found to be the secret to getting in shape.
“There’s been a lot of mornings actually where I haven’t felt super motivated to
come into the gym, but I always know once I come, I’ve conquered and
I feel great when I leave,” said Tammie Emery.
A1 Health and Fitness blends cardio with weightlifting. Many of the members acknowledged starting because they had concerns about their weight, but now they’ve shifted their sights to becoming stronger and feeling positive.
Aimee Vessell Wiedmeyer has had an amazing transformation. She said her secret comes down to one thing. “Just keep showing up, that’s always my advice,” she said. “That’s sometimes the hardest part is getting here and just doing it and keep going. When you feel like you need a little bit of a break, take a short break but then always get back to it.”
A1 Health and Fitness focuses on nutrition and keeping the classes fresh every day.
Teri Sieglaff started coming to class in January and already has lost 24 pounds. She said the coaches modify the workouts to meet her ability, and everyone is encouraging and inclusive.
“Don’t feel like you’re going to feel uncomfortable here,” she said. “Everyone was super accepting, everyone was super nice. People are so willing to help you modify the exercise and everyone is encouraging no matter what you do as long as you’re here and moving.”

Rory Demmer, 68, recently lifted more than her bodyweight. She said she realizes how important it is to keep moving and, as we get older, strength training is even more critical.
“You just have to do it; you owe it to yourself for one thing, and you have to do it for you,” she said.
Craig Biesik had a huge transformation at A1 Health and Fitness, but he said he was put off by comments generated by weight-loss marketing. “Everyone wanted to know how fast I was able to do this,” he said.
“This is not a six-week process. Six weeks gets you into it and it becomes a habit. You can’t just go by the scale you learn to go by your body composition and how you feel.”
Liz Dreher competed in diving when she was in high school. While physically fit most of her life, she experienced peaks and valleys like everyone else.
“You’re going to get gains and then you’re going to plateau and then you’re going to get gains and you’re going to plateau that’s just how the body works but just keep showing up
because the end result is going to be so worth it,” said Dreher.
The bonus at A1 Health and Fitness is the family atmosphere. “We love you as a family,” she said. “We take you in and you’re part of us you’re part of our group. So just keep
showing up.”
