We’re Calling It: Guava Is the Flavor of Summer

  • Guava is the flavor of summer 2025, and our editors are standing by it.
  • The guava fruit is packed with protein, fiber and potassium, making it a nutritious choice.
  • EatingWell editors share their favorite ways to enjoy guava—plus products to try.

In EatingWell’s trend predictions for 2025, we said that tropical fruit would be all the rage. Not to toot our own horn, but we clocked that trend—we’re noticing an uptick of product launches starring fruits that will transport you to sunny beaches.

Specifically, there’s one fruit that we think will be the “it girl” this upcoming season. Meet guava: She’s bright, colorful and is starring in all of our favorite snacks and drinks lately. We’re all for this burgeoning trend where guava gets the spotlight, because the guava fruit is both delicious and nutrient-dense.

Take a look at what makes guava in particular worth the add to your grocery list—plus guava-flavored products you need to try ASAP.

Why We Love Guava

Guava is completely underrated, and you’ll agree once you look at this nutritional breakdown for one cup of the fruit:

  • Calories: 112
  • Carbohydrates: 24 g
  • Dietary fiber: 9 g
  • Total sugar: 15 g
  • Protein: 4 g
  • Total fat: 2 g
  • Saturated fat: 0 g
  • Sodium: 3.3 mg
  • Potassium: 688 mg
  • Vitamin C: 376 mg
  • Vitamin B6: 0.181 mg
  • Vitamin A: 51.2 mcg

So much to unpack! First, guava is packed with protein, with over four grams per cup. And when paired with its high-fiber content, it’s sure to be a satisfying addition to any meal or snack.

Plus, one cup of guava has more potassium than one cup of banana. Getting enough potassium in your diet can help you stay hydrated for longer, and it may provide heart-healthy benefits like lowering blood pressure and reducing heart disease risk.

Our Favorite Guava Finds

Guava is great as-is, and you can use it in a homemade jam or vinaigrette. But if fresh guava is hard to find in your area, there are a few ways you can embrace the fruit of the summer. First, check and see if your local grocery store carries frozen guava or guava puree; You will be able to enjoy the same health benefits that the fresh fruit provides, as frozen fruit is harvested at its peak and can sometimes have a higher nutrient density than fresh.

To include guava’s tangy, fruity taste in your everyday life, our editors also recommend some guava-flavored products that you should definitely try. From drinks to snacks, here are some of our favorites.

“I love the Bonne Maman Guava Preserves on toast or with cheese and crackers,” editor Leah Goggins shares. Guava spread with cheese is a protein-packed snack that provides a salty-sweet taste that we love—our news, trending and updates editor Abigail Abesamis Demarest recommends brie with guava jelly on toasted bread for an ideal charcuterie combination.

And this summer, more and more guava drinks will be popping up on shelves. Some that we’ve already tried and love include Spindrift Island Punch and GT’s Guava Paloma Agua de Kefir.

“I grabbed a bottle of GT’s Guava Paloma Agua de Kefir at lunch the other day and I’m totally in love,” our associate editorial director Carolyn Malcoun shares. “It is packed with guava plus grapefruit and lime and gets a light kick from habanero. Since I’m not drinking much these days, I feel like I could pour this over ice and not miss the alcohol one bit.”

As for me, I’ve been loving the Solely Organic Mango Guava Fruit Gummies as my go-to sweet snack. They have no added sugar and just two ingredients: mango and guava, of course. And speaking of no added sugar, I recently tried Onda’s Guava Tequila Seltzer, and it may become my drink of choice when I need to wind down this summer.

Trader Joe’s is also hopping on the guava train—we’re excited to try out their new Organic Guava Fruit Spread and Guava Passion Fruit Yogurt. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more new guava products, because trust us, it’ll be everywhere this summer. And we are 100% here for it!
