Westin Hotels & Resorts opens new property on Nirup Island, Indonesia

The Westin Nirup Island Resort & Spa, component of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio, has opened its doors on Nirup Island, Indonesia, offering a wellness-focused venue 20-minutes ferry ride from Singapore.

The resort covers the entire private island, providing guests with exclusive access and a range of amenities.

Marriott International Indonesia & Malaysia regional vice president Ramesh Jackson said: “The debut of The Westin Nirup Island Resort & Spa, Batam marks an exciting milestone for Westin as we continue to expand our presence in key leisure destinations across the region.

“Guided by Westin’s Pillars of Well-Being – including Sleep Well, Eat Well, Move Well – this resort is designed as an enriching haven where guests can optimize their well-being and achieve balance amidst the tranquillity of nature.”

The resort, which is 40-minutes form Harbour Bay Batam, offers 94 guest rooms and suites, alongside 52 private villas, each equipped with outdoor spaces, balconies, or terraces showcasing views of the Singapore skyline.

The accommodations at the property include the brand’s signature Heavenly Bed, Heavenly Shower, and Westin Bath amenities.

The architectural design of the resort pays homage to the local Orang Laut community, with villas arranged in pairs.

Guests at The Westin Nirup Island Resort & Spa can indulge in a variety of dining options, including Island Kitchen for all-day dining, Nirup Social Bar & Lounge for drinks, and Salt Simply Seafood for coastal cuisine.

In addition, Constellate Pool Bar offers panoramic views from the island’s highest point.

The resort’s wellness amenities feature the Heavenly Spa by Westin, a fitness studio with Technogym equipment, and outdoor activities like yoga and water sports.

For events, the resort boasts a 450m² ballroom suitable for corporate conferences and weddings, complemented by three versatile meeting rooms.

Additionally, the Kids Club caters to younger guests with a range of activities.

Westin Nirup Island Resort & Spa general manager Manoj Rawat said: “We are excited to welcome guests to the majestic Nirup Island, where they can immerse themselves in the natural beauty and tranquillity that the destination has to offer.

“Our team is dedicated to providing thoughtful service and ensuring that every stay is enriching. We look forward to creating memories with our guests and becoming a cherished destination for travellers seeking a meaningful experience.”

This opening follows Marriott International’s agreement with PT Pakuwon Jati in September last year to develop five more hotels in Indonesia, adding over 1,300 rooms to the local hospitality sector.
